Globally, it is estimated that about one in five, or about 1.5 billion people, suffer from body pain, with prevalence increasing with age. The pain could be lightened by warming the parts of the body and a heating pad is used for it. Application of heat causes the expansion to the blood vessels of that area, which enhances perfusion to the targeted tissue.
Electrical chemical and hot water bottles:
Electrical, chemical, and hot water bottles are the types of heating pads.
Specific heating pads (mats) are also used in other settings. In cooler temperatures, they operate very well for plant propagation by vivifying seed germination and root development.
Mats are also useful in the pet trade; they perform proficiently by being warming spots for reptiles such as lizards and snakes.
Electric pads are easy to utilize as they run on household current but they must be guarded against overheating.
The steamed heating pad is applied to the user’s skin with the recorded temperatures from 76 to 82 °C (169 to 180 °F). It performs deep tissue treatment but could be risky if left unattended. Heating pads are commonly used by physical therapists and easily accessible for home use as well. A stupe can be added to moisturize the treatment.
An electric heating pouch is similar to an electric heating pad but is curved to wrap around a joint.
